An exciting career opportunity exists for an accomplished Area Manager Richard Bay Casthouse based at the Hulamin Rolled Products in Pietermaritzburg. 

The overall purpose of this position is focused on translating operational strategy into actions, proving leadership, support and enabling the area team to execute the business objectives in terms of Safety, Quality and Recoveries, Throughput, Cost, OTD and People.

The core responsibilities for the position include:

  • Assume responsibility for the long-term direction and strategy of the area and provide direction for the execution / implementation thereof, 
  • Oversight over the Richards Bay Casthouse and management of stakeholders within the Richard Bay cast house,
  • Ensure that all SHE requirements and standards are implemented and strictly adhered,
  • Develop and implement strategies and systems to reduce costs, improve productivity, quality, throughput, recoveries, inventory and on-time -delivery, 
  • Ensure that best operating practices and sound manufacturing processes are adhered to,
  • Lead improvement initiatives that result in the achievement of superior manufacturing performance, and
  • Lead the employee-engagement and training and development initiatives to ensure a competent and high performing manufacturing team. 

The core competencies for the position include:

  • B Tech/Degree in Engineering, 
  • Strong technical and engineering background and must have demonstrated leadership potential in a manufacturing environment,
  • Demonstrate strong leadership capabilities including developing people, setting and implementing medium to long term strategic plans,
  • Display a practical hands-on approach with the ability to problem-solve and take corrective action,
  • Good understanding of continuous improvement, asset management and process control and the passion to entrench these in the area,
  • Well-developed management and project management skills with the drive and ability to achieve results,
