Every year the CANSA Association of Pietermaritzburg organises a "Rose Week" towards the end of October, where roses are offered for sale to those who wish to remember friends and family who suffer or have suffered from cancer, in an attempt to raise very much needed funds for the CANSA Association.
CANSA Pmb approached Hulamin enquiring whether the company would be interested in purchasing roses to support their fund raising drive and it was decided to purchase roses and donate them directly to the Msunduzi Hospice. Arrangements were made for the individually packaged roses to be delivered directly to the Hopsice premises in Prestbury and they were given to the day care patients in attendance at Hospice on Wednesday 31 October .
The following is an excerpt from Hospice's response to Hulamin:
"We had a very exciting morning this morning at Hospice Daycare. The patients were delighted with the roses Hulamin so kindly donated to us.
They asked to convey their thanks to Hulamin for their kindness and for thinking of them - they said you made them feel very special and that they truly appreciated receiving a beautiful rose.
The balance of the roses will be distributed to our patients at home who are not well enough to attend daycare."
