Hulamin supplies the new King Shaka International Airport

The new King Shaka International airport is yet another high profile construction project clad that has used Hulamin's aluminium sheet. King Shaka joins an impressive list of modern buildings constructed using Hulamin's products, such as the Olympic Velodrome in Athens, the Beijing Opera House,the Delhi airport in India, Jebel Ali Airport in the UAE, the Sohar Smelter in Dubai, the Nelson Mandela and Moses Mabhida stadia which will host the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, to name but a few.

Named after the most famous Zulu monarch, Shaka, the airport is located in La Mercy, 35 kilometres north of Durban, South Africa and will replace the existing Durban International airport. "This R6.8 billion project used 360 MT of prepainted roofing sheet manufactured by Hulamin. "We delivered the material to our roll former customer, Global Roofing Solutions between May 2008 and January 2009" explained Hulamin Rolled Products Marketing Manager, Renee Driemeyer. The product furnishes both the airport walls and roof as designed by Osmond Lange Architects and Planners.

King Shaka is expected to be completed by May 2010, just in time for the 2010 FIFA World Cup kick off.
